Proof Of Life

Hi.

This is me sending out proof of life.

Yes, I am still here. Not necessarily in one piece, but here nonetheless.

There have been a lot of big life changes.

The baby has teeth now and is trying to walk. My eight-year-old is thriving in therapy, growing in confidence, and developing some real social skills. And somewhere along the way… I acquired a teenager.

What?!

I know.

I did say big life changes.

Five years ago, my husband and I found out he had a daughter from a previous relationship. Talk about a gut punch. She stepped into our lives at the exact moment I had been praying so desperately for a baby. I remember one very honest conversation with God that went something like:

“Um… I meant my baby.”

God’s timing, and His sense of humor, have always been a little different than mine.

Because what I couldn’t see then was that He wasn’t replacing the prayer, He was expanding it.

Through her, He stretched my heart to love in ways I didn’t know it could.

Bigger. Deeper. Freer. She became the piece of our family we never knew we were missing. And now it’s honestly difficult to remember what life looked like before she was part of it.

I’m sure there will be a hundred more stories about all of that someday. There is so much grace, healing, and unexpected joy wrapped up in this chapter that it deserves more than a few paragraphs.

But for now, this is just proof of life.

Which brings me to another realization…

I really thought I was going to be one of those consistent bloggers.

Let’s all laugh together.

Because it’s nearly August, and my last post was in April.

Life, man.

It is absolutely lifing.

There have been  bottles and bedtime routines, therapy appointments, work deadlines, laundry mountains, unexpected blessings, hard conversations, and the holy, ordinary work of becoming a family in ways I never could have imagined.

It’s messy.

It’s loud.

It’s beautiful.

And somehow, in the middle of all of it, I have never felt more content or more at peace in my thirty-three years.

Not because everything is easy.

Not because life has slowed down.

But because somewhere along the way, I stopped waiting for peace to arrive after the chaos.

It turns out it was here all along.

Right in the middle of it.
